北京時間8月6日 ，名记巴薩官網發布公告，巴萨俱樂部不會與梅西續約，用梅他將自由離隊 。西离西甲跟隊報道巴薩的施压記者Reshad Rahman稱，巴薩的留下這一舉動有些操之過急 。
記者Rahman寫道 ：“這份官方聲明感覺有些操之過急了 ！名记一切都發生的巴萨如此之快 ，在我內心有一點點在想（隻是用梅希望），這隻是西离西甲巴薩官方在給西甲聯盟/特巴斯施壓的一種方式。當然，施压這隻是留下我內心僅存的一點點幻想而已 。”
此外 ，名记西班牙六台主持人Josep Pedrerol表示 ：“盡管經濟和製度方麵存在巨大阻礙 ，巴萨可我還是用梅認為梅西仍有10％的可能性留在巴薩 。”
