北京時間11月17日 ，世预苏意首轮卡塔爾世界杯預選賽歐洲區最後一輪比賽戰罷 ，欧附德國、加赛丹麥 、队葡比利時 、俄瑞法國 、种队克羅地亞 、踢主西班牙 、世预苏意首轮塞爾維亞 、欧附英格蘭 、加赛瑞士 、队葡荷蘭十支隊伍以小組第一直通世界杯 。俄瑞12支參加世預歐附加賽的种队隊伍也已經出爐 ，10個小組第二+2個通過歐國聯獲得參賽名額的踢主隊伍 ，這12隊將爭奪3個出線名額 。世预苏意首轮
世預歐附加賽共12隊參加 ，他們分別是來自10個世預歐預選賽的小組第二 ，以及2個通過歐國聯獲得參賽名額的隊伍 。12支球隊分為6支種子隊和6支非種子隊 ，將分成3組 ，4隊一組 ，抽簽後兩兩捉對廝殺 ，在半決賽取勝的球隊進入到附加賽決賽 ，通過單場淘汰製的形式每組決出1個參加世界杯的名額 。其中 ，在世預歐小組賽中成績較好的6支球隊為種子隊 ，葡萄牙 、意大利 、俄羅斯 、蘇格蘭 、瑞典 、威爾士為種子隊 ，他們將在半決賽享有主場優勢 ，而決賽的對決場地將通過抽簽決定 。
北京時間11月27日0點 ，世預歐附加賽的抽簽將在蘇黎世進行，而其比賽時間則為2022年3月24日至29日 。
