由於是服出非國際比賽日 ，所以敘利亞隊受俱樂部賽事以及傷病等因素的战国足热影響 ，陣容並不齊整 ，身赛在荷蘭效力的中場球員穆罕默德·奧斯曼 ，在希臘效力的中場球員阿亞斯·奧斯曼以及邊後衛阿卜杜爾拉赫曼·魏斯 ，以及同在伊拉克警察隊效力的前鋒馬瓦斯和中場法赫德·尤瑟夫等主力隊員全部缺陣 。這場與國足的熱身賽，敘利亞隊僅能派半主力陣容出戰。國足方麵則是派上了金敬道 、蔣光太 、吳曦、朱辰傑、劉彬彬 、張玉寧 、郭田雨等隊員 。
比賽第26分鍾，敘利亞隊率先進球 ，穆罕默德·馬默爾打破僵局 。上半時傷停補時第2分鍾 ，張玉寧為國足扳平比分 。今年6月的世預賽40強賽與敘利亞隊的比賽中 ，張玉寧下半時傷停補時取得進球 ，幫助中國隊以3 ：1取勝。
本場比賽也是世預賽12強賽中越之戰前，國足的唯一一場熱身賽 。根據安排 ，越南隊於當地時間今天飛赴阿聯酋沙迦 。出征之前 ，越南隊公布了27人名單 ，阮公鳳 、阮光海領銜 。阮公鳳有著越南梅西之稱，是越南隊的頭號球星 ，最近的熱身賽也是頻頻進球。他因為各種原因缺席了越南隊的前兩場世預賽12強賽 。越南隊主教練樸恒緒在談到即將進行的與中國隊的比賽時說 ，“與中國隊的比賽很重要 ，球迷們也非常關注 ，所以我們必須保持高度專注並付出努力 。”
