事實上 ，国足高层對比以往本土教練執教中國隊的外部環境 ，李鐵麵臨的輿論壓力要遠比他的前任高洪波、恩師朱廣滬執教時期小了很多，雖然主流媒體有不滿的聲音 ，但總體上還是比較理性溫和的 ，很多意見具有建設性。中國足協在12強賽之前宣布與李鐵簽約5年 ，沒有特別大的原因 ，李鐵率隊打完12強賽是有保證的 。當然 ，中國隊不能在後麵的比賽中犯大錯是前提 ，否則的話 ，中國足協高層的支持恐怕也難敵民意。
近日 ，據報道沙特隊絕對主力後腰阿卜杜拉·奧塔伊夫很可能因傷無緣與中國隊的比賽 。12強賽首戰與越南隊的比賽 ，他登場不到20分鍾就因傷下場 ，隨後缺席了和阿曼隊比賽 ，後經檢查確診為膝蓋內軟骨受傷以及內副韌帶淤傷，預計他的恢複期需要4至6周。即便奧塔伊夫因傷缺陣 ，中國隊仍難言一絲一毫的輕鬆 。
