盡管替補登場踢了20分鍾 ，触球次次但數據顯示 ，球权林加德在曼聯1-2輸給伯爾尼年輕人的送礼比賽中隻有6次觸球 。他隻成功完成一次傳球 ，林加其餘五次都丟失了球權 。而他最後一次觸球讓十人作戰的曼聯最終功虧一簣 ，他將球回傳給門將德赫亞時出現了失誤 ，致使希巴切烏完成絕殺。
在終場哨聲吹響時 ，林加德看起來非常沮喪 ，因為他知道自己讓球隊失去了關鍵的一分 。曼聯隊長馬奎爾很貼心的送上了安慰 ，賽後也積極為隊友辯護。
馬奎爾說道 ：“這就是足球 。人們都會犯錯 ，我們不該太責怪傑西（林加德） 。我相信今天賽場上所有人都犯了錯誤 ，我相信傑西會振作起來的 。”
“這是小組賽的第一場比賽 ，我們還有很多比賽要去踢 。我們要努力在下一場比賽中拿到三分 ，並重拾信心 。我們在下半場開局時做得挺好 ，我認為幾次換人幫助我們更好地防守對方的傳中 。在四後衛情況下 ，我們無法控製住禁區 ，伯爾尼年輕人沒有什麽真正的機會 ，最後這樣的結果令人失望 。”
在回歸曼聯後 ，C羅在兩場比賽中攻入了3球 。在被問及讓林加德替換C羅上場時，紅魔主帥索爾斯克亞說道：“當時比賽已經進行了70多分鍾，C羅在今天和周六的比賽中都消耗很大 。我們希望在比賽尾聲階段能夠借助馬蒂奇的比賽經驗 、林加德的跑動能力幫助球隊 。”
