早在本賽季聯賽首輪，终结當時還是蓝月亮轮由努諾執教的熱刺就在凱恩缺陣的情況下主場擊敗曼城 ，而在今夜客戰伊蒂哈德時，不败盡管熱刺場麵上明顯被壓製 ，精锐控球率僅有28%，热刺但他們還是双杀依靠高效反擊取得3個進球 ，並在客場以3-2的曼城比分全身而退 。
至此 ，终结本賽季的蓝月亮轮熱刺也成為了曆史上第四支能在單賽季雙殺瓜氏曼城的英超球隊 。
此前3支主客場雙殺藍月的不败球隊分別為16-17賽季的切爾西 、19-20賽季曼聯和狼隊 ，精锐而16-17賽季藍軍的主帥正是如今的熱刺主帥孔蒂 。
盡管曼城在本場失利前已經足足保持了15輪聯賽不敗，盡管熱刺過去3輪聯賽遭遇3連敗 ，連孔蒂都表示球隊僅有“1%”的概率衝擊前四，但今夜熱刺還是用極為出彩的表現展現著足球的魅力 。
