當時，比賽進行到第83分鍾 ，比分落後的馬競急需一粒進球扭轉局勢 。勒馬爾為球隊贏得了前場左側任意球機會 ，隨後吉梅內斯禁區內接隊友任意球傳中時在蒂亞戈-若塔的防守下倒地，當值主裁西伯特先是判罰了點球，但緊接著反複查看VAR後又將點球判罰取消 ，床單軍團因此錯過了絕平了機會 。西伯特的這一操作 ，引起了馬競全隊上下不滿 ，主帥西蒙尼在場邊更是拍手叫好以示嘲諷 。
