據新華社電 澳大利亞男足主教練阿諾德近日表示 ，他們在世預賽12強賽的足主第一個對手中國隊擁有多名經驗豐富的球員，且全隊在主帥李鐵帶領下非常努力 ，帅穆不過“袋鼠軍團”目標是多但顶级贏得比賽 。
阿諾德28日公布了參加9月兩場12強賽的澳男27人名單 ，其中僅一人來自澳超 ，足主絕大部分球員在海外聯賽效力 ，帅穆中超上海海港的多但顶级中場球員亞倫·穆伊入選 。
“我認為 ，澳男看了這支球隊 ，足主可以說李鐵幹得不錯 。帅穆他們非常努力 。多但顶级球隊的澳男防守很強 ，而且隊裏有很多有經驗的足主球員 ，”阿諾德28日下午在視頻發布會上說，帅穆“但正如我所說的，對我們而言 ，在球員們抵達和做完檢測後 ，我們合練時間不多 ，最多隻有一到兩次。所以關鍵是要確保我們為這場比賽做好準備 。當我們走上賽場 ，要有充足的活力 ，期待贏得比賽。”
阿諾德還在發布會上談到了中超球員穆伊。他說 ，每次征召這位老將入隊 ，都是認為他的狀態保持不錯 ，且回到球隊能帶給“袋鼠軍團”凝聚力和能量 。“他也許不會出場很多時間 ，但正如我說的 ，他是一位頂級球員 。”
澳足協28日介紹 ，澳男足將在29和30日在多哈完成集結 ，以備戰當地時間9月2日與中國隊的首場比賽 。
澳足協此前表示，這場比賽因疫情影響改在多哈舉行後 ，澳足協仍在努力溝通，希望將10月和11月的兩個主場比賽安排在澳大利亞舉行 。盡管比賽地調整帶來一些困難 ，但澳男足目標很明確 ，就是從12強賽突圍 ，連續第8次晉級世界杯決賽圈 。
