6月30日一過 ，梅西梅西與巴薩的合约現有合同就將到期 。從合同的到期角度上考慮 ，從當地時間明日開始 ，西媒续约心梅西就將成為自由球員。不成巴萨不担不過從目前西班牙媒體透露的问题信息來看 ，巴薩方麵對此並沒有太過擔憂 。梅西
拉波爾塔當選成為巴薩主席之後 ，合约梅西的到期續約問題就一直是俱樂部的首要任務之一 。而在巴托梅烏下台 、西媒续约心拉波爾塔就任之後 ，不成巴萨不担梅西在續約方麵的问题態度也較為積極 ，雙方已經就續約問題進行了談判 ，梅西並且在大部分方麵達成了共識。合约隻不過 ，到期梅西目前仍在隨阿根廷隊征戰美洲杯 ，續約合同也有一些細節仍有待完善 ，因此雙方未能在6月30日合同正式到期前達成最終協議 。
本周三當天 ，趕來“圍堵”的西班牙媒體記者 ，向巴薩主席拉波爾塔問到了梅西合同的情況 。拉波爾塔雖不願透露太多信息，但也麵帶微笑地簡略表示 ，“淡定 ，淡定 。”
《每日體育報》指出，梅西與巴薩方麵已經在續約方麵達成共識，雙方將續約兩年 。此前談判的進展一直較為順利 ，巴薩也一直在爭取於6月24日梅西生日當天 ，或是6月29日拉波爾塔生日當天對外宣布這一消息 。但由於續約合同內容的複雜性 ，直到現在合同也未能最終敲定 。
據悉，巴薩內部對梅西的續約情況持十分積極的態度 ，但對於何時能對外確認 ，目前尚無法明確 。梅西的律師與巴薩方麵仍在完善合同條款細節，力爭盡早實現續約 。《每日體育報》同時也表示 ，梅西本人也希望續約一事能夠盡快完成 。
