萊比錫紅牛為何不表態抵製與俄羅斯球隊交鋒 ？明茨拉夫給出回應：“我們的想法與切費林的想法一樣 ，那就是讓歐足聯來決定是否取消比賽，他們是賽事的組織者 。我們沒有其他想法，我們接受任何決定 。我們不會在困難狀況下逃避，在與歐足聯和德國足協的緊密磋商下 ，我們明確的態度就是讓歐足聯來做出最後的決定 。現在回想起來 ，我認為這是完全正確的選擇 。”
明茨拉夫不滿萊比錫紅牛受到的抨擊 ：“我可以接受任何批評 ，但倉促做決定有何意義呢？讓我馬上做決定 ，讓我公開說些陳詞濫調 ，讓我說萊比錫紅牛隻是賺錢工具 ？我隻能對此拒絕 。這一切影響到了我們 ，我們在情感上受到了傷害 。”
