首輪聯賽中 ，廣州隊2 ：2戰平廣州城 。即使是在連續奪冠的時期，廣州隊也不能在德比戰中占據壓倒性優勢，平局並未引起多大反響。本輪又0 ：1不敵泰山 ，難免讓人感到失望 。賽後主教練卡納瓦羅宣稱，他很清楚球迷希望球隊奪冠 ，但集團的目標非常明確 ，目標不是冠軍而是為國養士 ，這更引起巨大爭議。“全華班”的廣州隊正急速失去競爭力，兩輪隻拿到1分 ，也是這些年來球隊的最差聯賽開局。同樣是核心外援滯留巴西 ，國安隊的開局成績更差 ，首輪不敵申花，本輪又負於海港 ，遭遇兩連敗 。陣容穩定的海港隊奪冠勢頭強勁 ，本在意料之中 ，但國安開局如此糟糕 ，確實讓人意想不到。“我覺得是我們的侵略性還不夠 ，讓對手在進攻端給我們製造了很多問題 ，這也造成了我們雖然可以控球，但是無法轉換成有效的進攻 。本場比賽，期待球員們在身體對抗和侵略性上能提高 ，打得比上一場好一些 。”比利奇總結說。
賽季之前 ，海港 、廣州 、國安 、泰山和申花被認為是最有可能奪冠的隊伍 ，現在 ，第一集團球隊分化明顯 ，作為上賽季表現出色的球隊 ，廣州 、國安都需要抓緊時間趕上了 。
