我曾經找到過一份工作 ，但不得不辭職 。因為有太多人拒絕由我為他們服務 ，老年人格外多 。這讓本就不自在的我更加難過，他們指責我這種人導致意大利年輕白人找不到工作 。
我的內心發生了變化 ，似乎我為自己是個黑人而感到羞辱 ，似乎我害怕被當成移民 ，害怕我要向不認識我的人證明自己也是意大利白人 ，與他們沒什麽不同 。
我曾經拿黑人開過一些糟糕的玩笑 ，以此表明我和白人沒什麽不同 。但那其實是恐懼和害怕 ，我害怕看到人們眼中對移民的仇視 。
我希望人們不要為我感到遺憾 ，我隻想要提醒自己 ，比起那些寧死也不願意苟活的人 ，我經曆的苦難和痛苦微不足道。他們冒著生命危險 ，有人甚至已經失去了生命 ，而隻是為了品嚐一下那個被我們稱為“生活”的東西。
