北京時間5月31日淩晨 ，比利比利時足協在官網宣布 ，时足法國足球名宿亨利將會回歸比利時國家隊的协官教練組 ，他會擔任國家隊的亨返国助理教練征戰即將開戰的歐洲杯。需要指出的利重是 ，在2016年 ，家队教练亨利就曾經是担任比利時國家隊的助理教練，但是助理在2018年的10月份離職。
亨利球員時代是比利一位世界級的球星 ，退役後的时足亨利沒有離開足球 ，他先是协官在天空體育擔任足球解說 ，隨後在阿森納的亨返国青年隊擔任教練。2016年的利重8月份 ，亨利得到了比利時國家隊的家队教练邀請 ，成為了國家隊助理教練，担任他也幫助主帥馬丁內斯備戰2018年的世界杯預選賽 。在世界杯預選賽中 ，比利時國家隊順利出線 ，並且在俄羅斯世界杯的正賽中獲得了第三名的好成績 。
2018年的10月份 ，亨利得到了母隊摩納哥隊的邀請擔任主帥 ，隨即辭去了比利時國家隊助理教練一職。但是這次執教摩納哥的經曆並不成功 ，帶隊出戰20次 ，獲得了5勝4平11負的成績 ，也因為帶隊成績不佳被解雇 。
著名的足球評論員卡拉格在接受采訪時如此評價亨利的這段執教生涯 ：“每當我看到亨利的時候，我那時候都能夠看到他臉上的尷尬 ，你可以感受到 ，亨利對於他在摩納哥執教的那段時期感到很尷尬”
離開摩納哥後 ，亨利來到了美國職業大聯盟球隊蒙特利爾衝擊隊，而在擔任該隊主帥期間 ，成績也並不好 ，29場比賽獲得了9勝4平16負的尷尬成績。
