齊達內在宣布辭職之前 ，竟备拒绝皇馬已經開啟了選帥工作 ，胎佛勞爾、爷首哈維-阿隆索 、先邀阿萊格裏和孔蒂都是请穆緋聞對象。但馬德裏媒體在安切洛蒂回歸之前透露了一則奇怪的安帅消息，表示未來皇馬的竟备拒绝帥位將屬於一個“冷門人選”，誰也沒有想到會是胎佛安切洛蒂 。如今《電訊報》的消息讓所有人都沒有想到 ，弗洛倫蒂諾會主動聯係剛剛執教羅馬的穆裏尼奧 。
英國媒體表示：弗洛倫蒂諾在邀請安切洛蒂之前的幾天曾經找到過穆裏尼奧 。雖然當年狂人和皇馬隊內大部分球員鬧翻，但穆裏尼奧和弗洛倫蒂諾始終保持不錯的關係，最近幾次皇馬換帥也多次和穆帥有過緋聞。
但是穆裏尼奧已經成為了羅馬主帥 ，狂人直接拒絕了弗洛倫蒂諾的請求 。穆帥除了有約在身之外，還有一個拒絕皇馬主席的理由是 ，狂人對自己執教羅馬的前景非常有信心 。而弗洛倫蒂諾在碰壁之後 ，才找到了安切洛蒂 。
值得一提的是 ，無論是穆裏尼奧還是齊達內，這兩位教練此前是和皇馬主動分手 ，並不是被弗洛倫蒂諾炒了魷魚。而安切洛蒂是2015年三線作戰全部落敗後 ，被佛爺掃地出門 。但沒想到皇馬一個邀請 ，安切洛蒂就果斷回歸 ，而且身份還是個備胎 。
