呂迪格與皇馬的明夏緋聞由來已久，這位德國中後衛與切爾西的自由转合同將於本賽季結束後到期。根據The 蓝军Athletic的消息 ，呂迪格將在1月冬季轉會窗口開啟後與皇馬簽訂一份預合同 。铁闸報道稱，月将预备自從今年8月切爾西向呂迪格提供了一份周薪14萬英鎊的皇马合同合同被後者拒絕後，雙方就再未進行過談判。签订傳聞中，明夏呂迪格目前的自由转周薪為9萬英鎊 ，僅相當於他的蓝军德國老鄉維爾納和哈弗茨的三分之一 ，這完全不符合他球隊絕對主力的身份 。
據悉，呂迪格希望得到一份周薪接近20萬英鎊的續約合同，但切爾西方麵不打算提高報價 。根據相關規定 ，2022年1月開始 ，呂迪格可以與外國俱樂部進行談判 ，因而德國鐵衛會在下個月與皇馬簽訂一份預合同 。
TA表示，呂迪格將會在明年夏天以自由身加盟皇馬 。盡管德甲豪門拜仁慕尼黑同樣對呂迪格有意 ，但德國人還是希望前往伯納烏繼續自己的職業生涯 。對皇馬來說，呂迪格的到來能夠進一步提升後防線的實力 。
雖然在今夏相繼失去了拉莫斯和瓦拉內兩大絕對主力 ，但是阿拉巴和米利唐的組合本賽季的表現非常出色 ，有效彌補了西班牙人和法國人留下的空缺 。不過 ，阿拉巴與米利唐這對中衛搭檔最大的短板是身高 ，兩人的身高為1米8和1米86，因而對於高空球的控製並不算太出色。身高超過1米9呂迪格的加盟後，這個問題將迎刃而解 。尤其對於全能戰士阿拉巴來說 ，他可以在左後衛和中場方麵盡顯才華 ，這對於主教練安切洛蒂的排兵布陣是一大利好 。
