It's official: the Avengers: Endgametrailer is a hit. So says Marvel.

The trailer picked up 289 million views in the first 24 hours after surfacing on Friday morning, the company said in a Saturday tweet. The follow-up to Marvel's 2018 ensemble superhero hit, Avengers: Infinity War, is set to hit theaters in April 2019, and Friday's trailer was everyone's first-ever look.

It's not clear how Marvel/Disney arrived at that figure. YouTube only shows around 46 million views so far, as of 5:34 p.m. ET on Saturday, so other video sources obviously factor in. The Hollywood Reporternotes that the two previous "most-viewed trailer" record holders were Avengers: Infinity War(230 million) and The Lion King(224.6 million for the new one), according to Disney.
