皇馬在新賽季發揮出色 ，关库前6輪的尔图西甲聯賽獲得了5勝1平的成績 ，以16個積分位居西甲首位。瓦迎球隊位居西甲榜首除了與進攻線爆棚的西甲狀態有關外也與門將位置的庫爾圖瓦的出色發揮有很大的關係 。
本場對戰比利亞雷亞爾的场零比賽 ，庫爾圖瓦兩次做出神奇撲救 ，皇马也為皇馬贏得一個積分立下戰功 。比賽第12分鍾 ，丹朱馬前場左路得球1V2突破推至禁區低射 ，但是這次射門被庫爾圖瓦倒地碰出 。第30分鍾 ，瓦倫西亞反擊 ，皮諾插上單刀突入禁區左側分球 ，帕科跟進得球打門 ，被庫爾圖瓦倒地撲出 。如果沒有庫爾圖瓦這兩次神奇撲救 ，皇馬在上半場比賽大概率會兩球落後 。
需要指出的是 ，加上本場比賽的兩次撲救 ，庫爾圖瓦各項賽事27次撲救23次成功，撲救成功率非常驚人 。另外加上本場比賽零封，庫爾圖瓦在西甲賽場迎來100場零封裏程碑 。在這100場零封中，56次是在馬競踢球期間 ，44場是在皇馬踢球期間 。
庫爾圖瓦也成為進入到21世紀以來第五位在西甲賽場零封場次達到100場的門將 ，而零封對手100場 ，庫爾圖瓦用了217場西甲比賽 。在五位100場零封的門將中 ，這一數據位居第二 ，僅有奧布拉克(182場)所用的比賽場次比庫爾圖瓦更少 。
賽後 ，庫爾圖瓦接受了采訪 ：“平局的結果有點苦澀 ，因為我們是在主場作戰 ，如果一個直接競爭對手輸球的時候，你會更希望拿到3分，1分對我們來說不解渴 。在最近幾場比賽都有丟球的情況下 ，完成一場零封還不錯。”
