第二個“沒想到” ，是一上來就展現出“魔鬼”麵孔的國足主帥李霄鵬 。“第一次上場地訓練 ，就安排了分組對抗的內容 ，好在上一次在上海（解散）的時候 ，教練就跟我們說過 ，放假期間一定要保持運動，為接下來的訓練做好準備，所以累歸累，有時候甚至連話都不想說，但大家基本都跟下來了 。”
對於國足本期集訓初始階段即上量 ，隊內相關人士解釋稱 ，球隊雖然已經無緣參加卡塔爾世界杯正賽 ，但從球隊長遠發展考慮，這支球隊有必要在接下來的實戰中盡快提升“硬度” 。海口備戰前期，訓練正是以強化國腳體能儲備為主要目標 ，從而提升球員實戰 ，特別是防守過程中的“硬度” 。“即便12強賽最後兩場取勝比較難 ，球隊也應該踢出精氣神 ，至少在氣勢上不能垮掉” ，一位隊內人士說道 。
