按照計劃 ，武磊未确中國男足最快將於8月15日起在上海集中，西班備戰即將於9月開始的牙备卡塔爾世預賽亞洲區第3階段賽事 ，暨12強賽 。战西足尚中國隊鋒線主力武磊也計劃於7月14日離開上海，甲何重返西班牙 ，时再隨後參加西班牙人俱樂部隊新賽季西甲備戰。回国他將根據國足12強賽海外備戰及主場安排結果 ，武磊未确來確定歸隊的西班具體行程安排 。
7月13日白天 ，牙备武磊隨中國足協主席陳戌源 、战西足尚協會分管青少年工作的甲何副主席高洪波一起前往位於上海市崇明島的根寶足球基地 。在探望恩師徐根寶的时再同時 ，武磊也將作為基地出品的回国優秀球員榜樣 ，給小師弟們作了一番現場技術指導 、武磊未确勵誌 。
此次活動也是武磊短暫休假期間的最後一次公開活動 。按照計劃 ，他於7月14日啟程離開上海 ，隨後返回西班牙巴塞羅那 ，參加西班牙足球俱樂部新賽季西甲聯賽的備戰 。
出發之前 ，陳戌源 、徐根寶以及國足主帥李鐵等人紛紛叮囑武磊注意保護自己的身體 ，從而得以良好的狀態重返國家隊 ，幫助球隊積極投身12強賽競爭 。
賽曆顯示 ，中超聯賽首階段賽事將於8月12日結束 。按照國足方麵的計劃 ，球隊最快將於8月15日左右集中。這意味著國腳們在聯賽與國足備戰啟動之間 ，可能僅有3天左右的休息調整時間 。
國足將12強賽前最後一期集訓周期拉長的主要目的是希望借此之機 ，在大賽開賽前安排1至2場有價值的國際熱身 。為此 ，球隊不排除將新一期集訓先後安排在國內 、境外進行的可能性，以方便落實熱身對手 。
從各渠道反映的情況看 ，上海市將成為國足12強賽主場“第一候選賽地” 。不過由於球隊12強賽首輪客場與次輪主場比賽之間僅相隔5天 ，因此具體備戰計劃如何安排，仍需現實條件而定 。武磊屆時有可能在國足境外集訓地與球隊匯合 。
