媒體分析 ，劫欧當值主裁判格蘭德的足联賽後報告起到了關鍵性作用 。因為在比賽進行時，不准备调报告格蘭德和VAR視頻裁判在得到博格巴的查吕裁判投訴之後 ，也未對呂迪格進行追加判罰 ，迪格說明還是关键對呂迪格的行為進行過判定 ，認為並不構成嚴重的逃过侵犯 ，並且並未寫入賽後的裁判報告 。因而歐足聯也就順水推舟 ，決定並不予以立項進行專門調查 。
而且 ，博格巴也替呂迪格說了不少好話 ：“我們是朋友 ，這沒什麽大不了的 ，我想你們看過電視畫麵了 。一切都結束了，這屬於過去了 ，我不是在為這種行為呼籲黃牌或紅牌。我覺得他咬了我一下 ，但是我們已經認識很久了 ，我感覺到了，我告訴了裁判 ，他做出了決定 ，這件事已經結束了 ，我不希望他因為這個小動作被停賽 。”
至於，呂迪格本人 ，也在賽後為自己澄清：“我沒有咬博格巴 ，但我的嘴巴確實不應該貼近他的背部 。”
