意大利國家隊連續兩屆世界杯無緣決賽圈階段的賽事 ，這樣糟糕的罗意表現讓亞平寧半島責難聲四起 。近日 ，大利意大利著名教練卡佩羅在接受天空體育采訪時犀利指出 ，缺乏既然意大利隊缺乏西班牙人那樣的西班习德腳下技術 ，就應該務實一些 ，脚下技术學習德國足球的该学国踢球方式。

老帥在講到如何找尋合適的戰術時，提到了亞特蘭大 ，“在意大利 ，隻有亞特蘭大做得比較好。他們有自己的風格 ，而且踢出了自己想要的足球，也取得了不錯的成績 。”
對於意大利隊緣何無緣世界杯 ，卡佩羅認為球隊失去了歐洲杯時的優點 ，“在歐洲杯之後 ，我們的國家隊似乎沒有像在歐洲杯時那樣堅定且謙遜地去比賽 ，他們應該覺得自己是歐洲杯的冠軍，卻忘記了自身的特點了 。”
