對於意大利隊緣何無緣世界杯，卡佩羅認為球隊失去了歐洲杯時的優點，“在歐洲杯之後 ，我們的國家隊似乎沒有像在歐洲杯時那樣堅定且謙遜地去比賽，他們應該覺得自己是歐洲杯的冠軍，卻忘記了自身的特點了 。”
