不過澳大利亞並沒有繳械投降，第76分鍾，阿根廷解圍失誤，皮球落到禁區外圍的古德溫腳下 ，他隨即果斷射門 ，球打在恩佐-費爾南德斯的身上折射入網；
隨後的比賽中阿根廷繼續尋找機會 ，不過替補出場的勞塔羅錯失2次絕佳良機 ，還好最終阿根廷保住了2-1的勝果；
此前的比賽中 ，荷蘭3-1戰勝美國已經晉級；如此一來 ，阿根廷與荷蘭的比賽也是1998年世界杯1/4決賽的荷阿大戰再度重現 ，期待這場精彩的1/4對決！
