利物浦不願意放人，也是情理之中的事情。在奧運男足決賽結束一周之後，英超就將展開新賽季首輪較量 。如果埃及打進決賽的話 ，薩拉赫不但將錯過利物浦全部的賽季前訓練和熱身賽 ，而且極有可能將缺席英超前三輪比賽。
明年1月 ，埃及將會參加非洲杯 ，屆時薩拉赫肯定會獲得征召。非洲杯是FIFA官方賽事 ，這意味著利物浦無法強行留住薩拉赫。在這種情況下，利物浦更加不可能放薩拉赫踢奧運會了 。薩拉赫半年之內兩次為國踢大賽的話 ，那對於利物浦的利益而言是個巨大的傷害。
