意大利杯決賽中 ，尤文國米在加時賽憑借佩裏西奇的时隔梅開二度4-2擊敗尤文贏得了冠軍 。這也是年首年包内冠國米曆史上第8次贏得意大利冠軍，藍黑軍超越了7次奪冠的皆空拉齊奧，成為贏得意杯冠軍次數第三多的国米球隊 。輸球的揽国尤文本賽季沒有贏得一項賽事的冠軍 ，這也是尤文2010-2011賽季後的首次 。
最近的时隔10多年 ，尤文圖斯成為了意大利足壇的年首年包内冠霸主 ，他們連續九個賽季贏得意甲冠軍 ，皆空同時兩次殺入歐冠決賽 。国米但是揽国上個賽季 ，尤文圖斯沒有實現意甲10連冠的尤文偉業 ，而打破尤文對聯賽冠軍壟斷的时隔就是國米。盡管上個賽季尤文未能贏得意甲冠軍 ，年首年包内冠但是卻獲得了意大利杯與意大利超級杯的冠軍 。
新賽季 ，尤文出現巨變 ，皮爾洛走人 ，阿萊格裏回歸，而C羅這位鋒線頭牌也離開了球隊。這也導致了尤文本賽季開賽之初戰績不佳 ，前4輪不勝，在上半程的意甲結束後也僅位居第7位 。冬窗期間 ，尤文買入了弗拉霍維奇 ，這位前鋒的加盟也確實提升了球隊的實力 ，尤文的成績也提升明顯。但是盡管如此 ，尤文依舊沒有恢複到昔日的水準 ，在意甲聯賽沒有奪冠希望 ，而在歐冠也早早被淘汰出局 。1月初的意大利超級杯 ，尤文輸給國米也無緣冠軍 。
因此意大利杯冠軍就成為了尤文本賽季唯一的可以追求冠軍獎杯的賽事 ，而結果非常紮心 ，尤文在2-1領先的情況下被國米連續打入3個進球 ，最終2-4輸給對手無緣金杯 。需要指出的是，這也是自2010-11賽季以來，尤文首次在沒有贏得任何獎杯的情況下結束全賽季 。
尤文在意大利足壇統治力下滑，與之相比 ，國米則是風光無限 。在上個賽季 ，國米就將尤文踢下意甲神壇 。本賽季國米更是吊打尤文，在意甲聯賽中 ，國米兩次對戰尤文 ，一勝一平保持不敗 。而在意大利超級杯以及剛結束的意大利杯中 ，國米兩次直接擊敗尤文贏得了冠軍獎杯 。在經曆十年的冠軍荒之後 ，國際米蘭在近一年的時間內包攬了意大利國內三項賽事的冠軍 。
根據統計，此番國米也是時隔11年再次贏得意大利杯的冠軍 ，也是藍黑軍隊史上第8次贏得意大利杯冠軍 ，超越了7次贏得意大利杯的拉齊奧，成為贏得意大利杯冠軍次數第三多的球隊 。而在國米的前麵 ，是9次奪冠的羅馬以及14次奪冠的尤文。
