梅西和巴薩都有簽約的西甲西薪续约意向 ，但是不接合同的內容目前沒有達成一致 。巴薩被曝要為梅西提供一份2年的受巴萨支水的受阻合同 ，此外還長期擔任俱樂部大使 。付梅方式但是再次西甲聯盟為了保證大多數球員的利益 ，避免球隊因為薪水過高而導致其他球員出現減薪或者沒錢發薪的西甲西薪续约狀況，拒絕了巴薩的不接這種續約方案。
而梅西的受巴萨支水的受阻薪資按照目前的標準來計算 ，是付梅方式巴薩每年在財政上的一個負擔。如果梅西走人的再次話 ，巴薩的整體財政狀況會瞬間良好 。因此梅西未來依然和巴薩簽約的話 ，西甲聯盟要重新審計這個新合同對球隊的影響，而當下巴薩提供的薪水分配方式還沒有得到西甲聯盟的認可 。
拉波爾塔重新成為巴薩主席以後 ，一個重要任務就是處理球隊留下的爛賬和壞賬 。而在更廣義的程度來講 ，巴薩要努力配合歐足聯的要求 ，使球隊整體運營情況符合歐足聯的財政公平法案。其次則是要做到西甲聯盟的降薪要求 ，否則西甲聯盟可以拒絕巴薩為梅西注冊 ，那麽梅西將不具有為巴薩出戰的資格 。
