在今天淩晨結束的葡法兩場歐洲杯1/8決賽中 ，法國與瑞士 、克强西班牙與克羅地亞均苦戰120分鍾 ，遭淘洲杯最終西班牙憑借著加時賽的汰上兩粒進球以5-3的比分淘汰了克羅地亞。而法國與瑞士的届欧均出局比賽則是拖入了點球大戰 ，點球大戰中，世界姆巴佩最後一輪出場 ，杯冠罰丟了點球 ，亚军瑞士也因此以8-7的葡法總比分淘汰法國，昂首挺胸的克强晉級到了8強 。
迄今為止 ，遭淘洲杯歐洲杯8強已經產生了6個席位 ，汰上分別是届欧均出局意大利 、丹麥 、世界比利時 、杯冠捷克、西班牙以及瑞士 ，還有兩個席位將在英格蘭德國 、烏克蘭瑞典之間產生 。值得一提的是，由於法國 、葡萄牙以及克羅地亞先後倒在1/8決賽的賽場上，這樣以來2018世界杯以及2016歐洲杯的冠亞軍均止步16強。
2016年法國歐洲杯 ，法國在家門口與冠軍擦肩而過 ，在決賽賽場上輸給了沒有C羅的葡萄牙。2年之後 ，法國卷土重來 ，在俄羅斯世界杯的賽場上所向披靡 ，一路殺到了決賽 ，並且在決賽中大比分擊敗了克羅地亞 ，拿到了曆史上第二次世界杯冠軍 。
然而 ，時光來到了2020世界杯 ，雖然法國 、克羅地亞以及葡萄牙均小組出線 ，但在1/8的比賽中 ，他們均輸給了各自的對手 ，葡萄牙輸給了比利時 ，克羅地亞則是加時不敵西班牙 ，法國輸得更加遺憾 ，點球大戰惜敗瑞士 。
