歐洲杯1/8決賽首戰中 ，贝尔贝里丹麥以4比0的赛后属于比分大勝威爾士晉級 。小組賽從未首發 ，拒绝今夜隻有過一次替補出場的丹麦多多爾貝爾獨中兩元 ，成為球隊的主帅功臣 。賽後兩隊的贝尔贝里主帥都對比賽做出了點評 ，兩隊陣中最受關注的赛后属于球員 ，貝爾和多爾貝爾 ，拒绝今夜也分別接受了媒體的丹麦多采訪 。
“這真的主帅難以置信 。”丹麥主帥尤爾曼賽後表示，贝尔贝里“我為小夥子們展現出來的赛后属于拚搏精神而驕傲 ，無論是拒绝今夜誰出場，都表現得很好 ，丹麦多我可以說他們都是主帅真正的戰士 。球隊是可以做出輪換的，我們無法保證一切都在比賽中順利進行。但是我們在合適的地方 ，合適的時間做出了合適的調整。”
本場比賽 ，多爾貝爾打進了前兩粒進球 ，當選最佳球員。值得一提的是 ，本場比賽在阿姆斯特丹的克魯伊夫球場進行 ，而球場的主人阿賈克斯 ，正是多爾貝裏的前東家。尤爾曼評價道 ：“他在他曾經的主場進球，這簡直是再好不過的結果了 ，我也衷心為他感到高興 。”

在輸掉比賽後 ，威爾士主帥佩奇表示：“下半場開始後 ，第二個丟球來得太早了 ，而這改變了比賽的進程 。我們都很失望 ，失望於我們沒有給球迷們帶來值得滿意的結果 ，不過在整個大賽期間 ，球員的表現依然可以說非常出色 。至少他們在本場比賽之前的表現 ，依然配得上所有讚揚 。”
貝爾則表示 ：“顯然每個人都感到崩潰 ，我們努力了 ，像以前一樣 。比分不代表真實的差距。丹麥當然也是一支很強的球隊 ，希望他們在接下來一切順利 ，我們接下來要準備世預賽了。”不過當現場記者問起 ，貝爾是否會在歐洲杯後退出國家隊的問題時 ，貝爾直接轉身離開了。
