北京時間10月19日 ，海港足協杯次輪的进足警钟較量裏 ，上海海港以2-1險勝陝西長安競技 ，协杯险胜這也令球隊艱難晉級到八強的强却敲响行列。海港在連續2輪的连续轮战較量裏 ，麵對著低級別的低级队皆球隊 ，皆以一球小勝 ，别球攻擊力存在著明顯的海港問題 。
在足協杯的进足警钟前2輪比賽裏 ，海港首輪麵對著中乙的协杯险胜西安駿狼 ，球隊便打得如履薄冰 ，强却敲响直到比賽進行到補時的连续轮战最後一分鍾時，海港隊才憑借著李申圓的低级队皆門前包抄破門 ，幸運的别球上演讀秒絕殺 ，以1-0的海港比分力克對手獲得晉級資格 。
緊接著，海港在同陝西隊的較量裏 ，球隊依然打得無比艱辛。在保利尼奧利用世界波 ，為海港率先取得領先的情況下 ，卻仍然被坦布抓住機會扳平比分 。最終憑借著呂文君的點射建功 ，海港才以2-1涉險勝出晉級足協杯八強 。
連續2輪麵對著低級別球隊 ，可以看出海港在足協杯上確實簽運極佳 。但這2場僅打進3球 ，且皆險些被對手拖入點球大戰 ，海港的表現卻難以令人恭維 。
在1/4決賽裏 ，海港將麵對著大連人 ，這也是海港在今年的足協杯上 ，首次麵對著來自中超的對手 。尤其是接下來大連將作為足協杯的主賽場 ，海港在麵對作為東道主的大連人時，將麵對著更大的壓力 。倘若在接下來的1/4決賽裏 ，海港依然無法改變當前攻擊力差的軟肋，那麽足協杯恐怕便將走到盡頭。（Ariel）
