第一階段中超聯賽結束之後 ，期间麵對外界對於主帥萊科的曾联質疑 ，海港俱樂部一度希望利用夏窗的系李协杯補強來彌補主帥層麵的不足 ，畢竟在隊內人士看來 ，萊科與俱樂部管理層的溝通順暢，也願意聽取一些建議 。其次 ，受到疫情和國際形勢等各方麵的影響 ，海港方麵確實無法在短時間找到更為合適的外教 。
但是，萊科的缺陷是明顯的 ，臨場指揮能力不足、場上陣型單一 ，而且這些問題從聯賽開始至今始終沒有解決 。在二次轉會期間 ，海港方麵曾確實著手聯係了國字號教頭，但最終未能成行 ，這也印證了此前傳聞的海港俱樂部同李鐵進行接觸的消息。
目前，海港隊已經基本退出了本賽季中超冠軍的爭奪 ，俱樂部的目標已經轉向爭奪足協杯冠軍上來，盡管武磊需要傷停一個月 ，但應該無礙出戰足協杯的比賽 。如果球隊在足協杯上再有所閃失 ，相信海港隊很可能在賽季結束就將結束與萊科的合作 。
