由於此前《太陽報》曾透露 ，被停調查本案的古德是大曼徹斯特警方 ，因此人們一度懷疑涉案球員是森最受怀曼聯或曼城球員 。但現在看來 ，埃弗涉案的顿官球員來自埃弗頓。英媒此前透露 ，宣某线队训西這名英超球員31歲，是國家隊常客，也就是球員應該是1989年或1990年出生。
而球迷們已經在根據這些條件分析埃弗頓一線隊球員 ，目前最受懷疑的球員是“冰島大狙”西古德森 ，這位31歲的冰島國腳中場已經在推特登上了熱搜榜。西古德森本人還沒有對此做出回應。
