由於此前《太陽報》曾透露 ，被停調查本案的古德是大曼徹斯特警方 ，因此人們一度懷疑涉案球員是森最受怀曼聯或曼城球員。但現在看來 ，埃弗涉案的顿官球員來自埃弗頓 。英媒此前透露 ，宣某线队训西這名英超球員31歲 ，是國家隊常客 ，也就是球員應該是1989年或1990年出生 。
而球迷們已經在根據這些條件分析埃弗頓一線隊球員 ，目前最受懷疑的球員是“冰島大狙”西古德森 ，這位31歲的冰島國腳中場已經在推特登上了熱搜榜 。西古德森本人還沒有對此做出回應。
西古德森出生於1989年9月8日 ，2008年就來到英格蘭足壇加盟雷丁 ，之後曾效力過德國霍芬海姆 。2012年1月西古德森加盟斯旺西 ，之後還曾效力過熱刺 。2017年夏天西古德森以4500萬英鎊轉會費加盟埃弗頓 ，創造了俱樂部當時的隊史最貴引援紀錄 。
