在10月11日的队恐德比世界杯預選賽中，巴西客場0-0戰平哥倫比亞 。无缘米利唐為巴西首發出場 ，下周但第71分鍾米利唐受傷無法堅持，皇马隨即被蒂亞戈-席爾瓦換下 。防线巴西國家隊隊醫羅德裏戈-拉斯馬爾賽後對米利唐進行了超聲波檢測 ，支柱結果證實米利唐的因伤右腿後側肌肉受傷 。
巴西足協已經宣布，退出米利唐肯定無法參加本周巴西主場對烏拉圭的巴西世界杯預選賽 ，米利唐將提前離開國家隊返回皇馬 ，並在皇馬隊醫的指導下立即開始康複治療。下周中皇馬將在歐冠客場挑戰頓涅茨克礦工 ，下周末則將在西甲聯賽客場挑戰巴薩 ，《阿斯報》指出，米利唐很可能缺席這兩場關鍵比賽 。
今年夏天皇馬連續失去了拉莫斯 、瓦拉內兩位主力中衛 ，而米利唐則成為了球隊新的後防核心 ，無論和納喬還是和阿拉巴搭檔 ，米利唐在中衛位置上都表現穩健 。不過在米利唐受傷後，皇馬主帥安切洛蒂接下來隻能再次對後防線進行調整，納喬和阿拉巴將組成新的中衛組合 ，而左後衛則交給已經傷愈的門迪或馬塞洛。
本賽季皇馬的成績不錯 ，但傷病一直是球隊的隱患。而在本月的國家隊比賽中 ，阿紮爾 、卡馬文加 、米利唐先後受傷 ，卡塞米羅則因智齒感染出現發燒症狀 。皇馬一線隊的25名球員中 ，本賽季隻有庫爾圖瓦、巴列霍 、巴斯克斯 、維尼修斯4人沒有受過傷 。如果不能解決傷病過多的問題 ，皇馬本賽季想要爭冠難度很大 。
