談到國足歸化球員的比成使用時 ，劉建宏表示 ：“當我們決定去歸化球員的刘建時候 ，我特別不理解我們花了那麽多錢 ，宏力下了那麽大功夫 ，挺李铁最後歸化的让多都是一些 ，說實話 ，干年归化都是比成年齡離退役不遠的球員 ，這個性價比就成疑了。刘建如果你歸化亞冠時的宏力艾克森 、孔卡 、挺李铁穆裏奇那也行 ，但是現在這些外援的水平比武磊高嗎 ？沒有看得太出來。”
談到國足主帥李鐵時，劉建宏認為 ：“我把李鐵定義為一個比較年輕的教練 ，他遠沒有到自己的成熟期 ，但因此就讓李鐵下課嗎？我不同意 。我的態度很明確 ，我覺得這個時候不如就讓他在這個位置多幹幾年 。還有一個很重要的原因就是，我對國足參加這次世界杯預選賽沒有任何期望。”
“你覺得請誰來能把中國隊帶出去呢 ？我們不知道現在中國足球什麽狀況嗎 ？我們不知道我們隊員是什麽水平嗎？我們憑什麽在這個情況下還要求出現一個能把中國隊帶進世界杯呢 ？”劉建宏說道 。
