廣州隊首輪在“德比戰”中未能拿下廣州城 ，保塔并非區楚良和馬德興認為從場麵和過程來看 ，缺阵這個結果一點都不奇怪。广州冠需
雖然“保塔組合”的队主缺席對廣州隊影響很大 ，但區楚良認為這並非該隊目前的问题主要問題 。“其實即使以目前的谈夺班底來說 ，廣州隊還是先解擁有不弱的競爭實力，他們的决点主力陣容沒有改變 。揭幕戰（的保塔并非表現）是稍微急躁了點 ，想一口‘吃’掉對手 。缺阵落後的广州冠需情況下更急躁 ，最後連續向對手施壓 ，队主吳少聰追平的问题一球有運氣成分 ，更多是谈夺無功而返 。如果卡納瓦羅可以一直耐心堅持地麵進攻 ，先解減少盲目的高空打擊 ，進攻數據占優較大的廣州隊其實完全可以取得更好的結果。另一方麵，廣州城今年的防守是有進步的 。”他說。
馬德興則認為外界不該以鄭智41歲的年齡來說事。“鄭智在揭幕戰那天的發揮有問題嗎 ？別人就是打不出來 ，三浦知良53歲還在打J1聯賽呢 。廣州隊我認為需要解決三點問題 ：一是俱樂部管理層的心態能放低一點；第二是球迷的心理預期可以降低一些；第三是三四年前就存在的短板問題 。比如說左後衛 ，比如說中鋒問題 ，一直也沒有解決。如果這些短板沒有辦法解決 ，那麽再談奪冠就等於是要讓卡納瓦羅當替罪羊 ！”
區楚良肯定了廣州隊這兩年創造了更多機會給年輕球員 。“吳少聰從去年開始在中超的表現就可圈可點 ，嚴鼎皓也在不斷進步 。客觀來說 ，當恒大的一些位置上的老隊員必須退下來的時候 ，他們這些年輕球員就必須頂上 ，也隻能他們頂上 ，問題隻是他們的能力天花板有多高 ？是否能達到去海外留洋的標準 。”
馬德興坦承目前廣州隊陣中最有用的歸化球員就是蔣光太和阿蘭 ，他們同樣是國足一前一後的兩大核心 。“但是艾克森我覺得他如果不把體重減下來 ，他的作用就很有限了 。他是打中鋒的 ，但去年以來他在運動戰中都沒有取得過進球 。”
