對於梅西而言 ，續約巴薩隻是時間問題 ，巴薩主席拉波爾塔對阿根廷人留隊也很樂觀 。在昨天接受記者街頭采訪時，拉波爾塔又被問到了梅西的續約問題 。拉波爾塔相當淡定 ：“放鬆點 ，耐心點 ，一切都很順利 。”
按照此前西班牙媒體的說法，梅西將會與巴薩續約五年 。梅西將會降薪50% ，他首個賽季的稅後年薪僅為2000萬歐元 。梅西有權在2023年夏天免費解約離隊 ，巴薩會給他一大筆分手費 ，以表達對他多年來貢獻的感謝 。如果梅西留隊履行完這五年合同的話 ，他後三個賽季將會接受降薪 。
