這是本澤馬重返國家隊之後的第一粒和第二粒進球 ，而距離他上次為國家隊破門竟然時隔5年零258天 ！這也是主帥德尚執教法國隊期間 ，同一名球員兩粒進球之間隔時間最長的 ！同時 ，本澤馬也以33歲的高齡超越齊達內 ，成為代表法國隊在大賽上單場進球超過1個的年齡最長的第一人 ！
看到自己信任的射手取得了進球 ，主帥德尚也表示祝賀 ，“卡裏姆（本澤馬）很高興 ，他一直都在尋找那個（破門的感覺） 。他從來沒有失去信心 ，也沒有失去我對他的信心 。今晚他的表現非常棒 ！”德尚還展望了淘汰賽 ，“我們僅僅是完成了第一步 ，我們知道等待著我們的是什麽 。新的激烈競爭又要開始了 ！”
