C羅在今年的欧冠夏窗離開了尤文，媒體盛傳他會加盟曼城 ，不出但是场林超级在老爵爺的推動下，C羅時隔12年後回到了曼聯 。加德在加盟曼聯後的索帅首場比賽中 ，C羅就迎來了首發出場的周中機會 ，C羅在這場比賽中發揮出色 ，欧冠梅開二度 ，完成了夢幻般的回歸首秀 。
在本周中的歐冠小組賽中，曼聯要迎戰本賽季的第一個歐冠對手年輕人隊 ，而C羅是否出場也引發了極大的關注 。曼聯主帥索爾斯克亞在接受采訪時C羅可能不會出戰這場比賽 ：“把C羅排除出比賽大名單並非不可能的事情 ，C羅已經36歲了 ，而格林伍德今年19歲，因此我們必須要管理他們倆的出場時間 。”
“需要指出的是 ，C羅非常的自律，他在比賽後很快的時間就會恢複 ，當然最重要的事情就是隊內的每名球員都有出場的機會 ，C羅也是其中的一員 。”
在采訪的最後 ，索帥還感談起了林加德：“林加德曾經經曆了一段困難的時期 ，他是一名非常可愛的男孩 ，或者說是男人 。上個賽季林加德被租借離隊 ，我本可以留下林加德 ，因為我知道他是一名出色的球員 。但是在上個賽季租借期間 ，林加德向西漢姆和英格蘭的球迷展現了他的能力。林加德是曼聯的球迷 ，他從小就穿著曼聯球衣長大 ，所以我為他感到高興 ，他是一名超頂級球員，而且是個好人。”
