在亞足聯排名第一的澳大奥运澳大利亞女足30日公布參加東京奧運會的18名參賽球員以及4名候補隊員名單 ，期待能在效力於英超等頂級聯賽的利亚國腳們帶領下創造曆史佳績 。
奪得上賽季女足英超“金靴”的女足难忘切爾西射手克爾 ，是宣布這支澳大利亞隊的隊長 。這位27歲的名单鋒線多麵手 ，正處於生涯巔峰 ，期待將與另外11名參加過裏約奧運會的踢出隊友 ，開啟生涯的比赛第二次奧運之旅 。
這12名大賽經驗豐富的澳大奥运球員還包括來自裏昂的後衛卡彭特 ，以及阿森納的利亚三名球星——後衛凱特利 、前鋒富德以及門將威廉姆斯等 。女足难忘另外6名球員將是宣布首次參加奧運會 。
澳足協說 ，名单在上屆奧運會四分之一決賽點球大戰惜敗巴西隊後 ，期待這支有經驗 、踢出有球星以及新鮮血液的球隊 ，決心在東京踢出一屆“難忘的錦標賽” 。
“我們有速度 ，也很強壯，而且身體狀態也很棒……奧運會的關鍵是最大限度地利用我們的優勢 。”克爾說。
主帥托尼·古斯塔夫森曾作為助理教練幫助美國女足兩次獲得世界杯冠軍。
“我選出的球員，將能組成一個充滿熱情的團隊，而且她們都以代表國家參賽為榮，這是我喜歡的團隊精神 ，”古斯塔夫森說，“這是一支進攻能力強且平衡的球隊 ，許多球員能勝任多個位置，這也是奧運會這樣的大賽所需要的 。”
澳足協介紹，除18名參賽球員外 ，還有4名球員將作為候補隊員 ，隨隊一同前往東京，將在隊友出現傷病等無法參賽的情況時 ，替換到18人名單中 。
東京奧運女足比賽共12隊參加 ，分三組進行小組賽 。瑞典、美國 、澳大利亞與新西蘭分在G組，首輪比賽將於7月21日進行 。每個小組前兩名以及兩個成績最好的第三名晉級淘汰賽 。
