本賽季，场出中超的到队幾支升班馬隊伍表現均十分亮眼 ，浙江隊目前名列積分榜第8 ，教练江蒿俊闵在第一階段的自上阵郑智黄战比賽中 ，他們還以2比0的博文比分戰勝了爭冠球隊山東泰山 。浙江隊陣中擁有5位外援 ，其中穆謝奎 、埃沃洛 、弗蘭克以及波希諾洛是穩定首發 ，除司職後衛的波希諾洛外 ，中前場的3位外援包辦了浙江隊70%的進球 。因此對於廣州隊來說，首要難題便是如何限製對方外援發揮。
廣州隊主力中衛吳少聰上場比賽吃到一張黃牌 ，因此本場累計四張黃牌被迫停賽。由於浙江隊的兩位外援前鋒身高都達到1米88，在缺少1米92的吳少聰的情況下 ，防空將成為廣州隊的大難題 。在剩餘的中後衛人選中 ，穩定占據一個首發位置的李揚身高1米86 ，而有可能暫代吳少聰位置的幾位老將身高均在1米83以下 。
由於密集的賽程 ，廣州隊中場的張修維和嚴鼎皓近來表現欠佳 ，缺乏輪換想必也是鄭智等教練組成員回歸球員身份的考量之一 。剛剛加盟的蒿俊閔據消息要在廣州隊本輪比賽結束後在廣州與球隊回合 ，因此實際上能夠輪換的中場球員隻有鄭智、黃博文與一眾小將 。因此 ，相對而言防守屬性更強的鄭智很有可能在比賽中登場 。
