第36分鍾，罗地洛夫倫便在禁區內一次爭搶中肘擊對方前鋒希克 ，導致對方鼻子出血，此外還被VAR介入 ，導致主裁判判罰點球 。希克主罰命中 ，克羅地亞處於被淘汰邊緣 。不過好在他們下半場及時進行了調整，並很快由佩裏西奇扳平了比分 。最終雙方戰平 ，比賽結果對兩支球隊而言都算是一個可以接受的。捷克基本確保自己出線，而克羅地亞則保證自己最後一輪拚下蘇格蘭後，也有機會出線。
賽後 ，黃健翔老師對格子軍團狀態發表了自己的看法 ：“克羅地亞的狀態讓人感覺很迷很懵 。上一輪的全場和本場比賽的上半場格子軍團的發揮都很平庸 ，比3年前下滑很厲害 。不過下半場剛開始主教練的換人 ，將佩裏西奇調整到左路 ，很快就得到了想要的結果 。國米邊鋒為球隊攻入扳平進球 。除了競技狀態外，格子軍團的球隊內部可能有些狀況，比如更衣室關係等 ，所以才導致主教練的排兵布陣有些令人不解的地方，需要下半場來進行改變 ，比如布羅佐維奇隻給了可憐的2分鍾替補亮相機會，這名國米中場要是放在其他隊 ，肯定獲得先發 。”
