北京時間6月28日下午 ，日接中國足協在官網公布了今年第一期B級教練員培訓課錄取通知 。郑智在這24名學員當中 ，将缺加教鄭智便是席中其中之一 。這份大名單裏麵 ，超参包括多名曾經的培训國足名將 ，像邵佳一和孫祥等人都在列 ，班粤班但僅有兩人是現役中超球員，分別就是鄭智與雷騰龍 。在錄取通知上麵還寫明上課地點和日期 ，從7月11日開始 ，學員們就要集中在上海嘉定上課 ，一直到8月4日結束。
這對於兩名中超球員來說 ，就恐怕要長期缺席接下來的聯賽了 。特別是廣州隊隊長鄭智 ，球隊在7月份還有一輪補賽 ，大概從7月15日左右就要進行 ，後續就要進行第一階段的最後9輪比賽，持續到8月中旬結束 。屆時連續的密集賽程肯定不可避免 ，如果鄭智要因為去上海上教練課程而缺席比賽 ，這對於廣州隊中場來說更是麵臨考驗 。
不過無論如何 ，相信球迷們都會支持他的決定，畢竟從去年開始鄭智就擔任球隊的助教 ，甚至還一度有呼聲讓他接替卡帥成為主教練 。可是執教中超是要亞足聯承認的A級教練證 ，但隊長目前也隻能參加B級證書的培訓，距離A級還有差距。作為目前中超年齡最大的球員 ，鄭智開始在為退役後當教練鋪路 ，希望他能順利通過這次培訓考核 ，並且在廣州隊的意大利教練組身上學到更多東西 ，爭取早日接班卡帥 。
