英足總在賽後宣布調查伊蘭加被球迷襲擊的被砸部利事件，而利茲聯俱樂部也立即發布官方聲明 ，宣布將嚴懲肇事球迷 。“利茲聯俱樂部正在觀看視頻錄像，我們將盡一切可能找到那些朝球場內投擲雜物的球迷 。任何投擲雜物的球迷一經確定身份 ，都將被終身禁止進入我們的主場觀看比賽 。”
利茲聯球迷一向比較狂熱容易鬧事 ，而且他們和曼聯之間有著傳統矛盾。本場比賽前英國警方為了避免出現大規模球迷騷亂 ，出動了900名警察保障比賽安全 ，這創造了英超曆史的單場最多警察新紀錄 。在比賽前和比賽期間，共有9人被警方逮捕，其中2人是因為投擲煙花 ，1人試圖衝進球場。
警方表示：“沒有出現明顯的騷亂，但在賽前利茲市中心發生了一些衝突 ，比賽過程中也有一些小事件 。我們部署了足夠數量的警力 ，迅速進行幹預 ，識別和逮捕了責任人，避免任何混亂升級 。此外有大約70名客隊曼聯球迷沒有球票來到球場 ，根據第35條驅散令 ，警方立即驅散他們並護送他們離開球場 。目前雙方都沒有任何球迷受傷的報告。”
