9月14日 ，亞足聯官網發文表示，联将论亞足聯將積極參與由國際足聯發起的积极界杯關於世界杯以及女子世界杯改製為兩年一屆的討論和協商 。
“正如亞足聯的参世願景和使命所述 ，亞足聯的改制目標是通過世界級賽事進一步促進其成員協會發展，確保亞洲球隊和球員繼續在世界最大舞台繼續大放異彩 。为两與此同時 ，年届亞足聯也致力於加強同世界最大的亚足球迷市場 ，亞洲市場的联将论球迷進行更多的接觸以此來確保足球依然是這塊大陸上最受歡迎的運動 。
