科赫表示這一做法也是為了德國的業餘足球考慮 ：“因為德國足協並沒有非常多的錢 ，我將堅定地付出一切努力去保證業餘足球不受影響 。”
對於比埃爾霍夫接任德國隊主帥之職的可能性，科赫對此予以明確否決 ，他表示 ：“我們需要一屆成功的歐洲杯來帶我們走回正軌 。一名好的國家隊主帥必須能出色地連結各方 ，並且在足協內部被人接受 。”
