布林德表示 ：“埃裏克森躺在草地上的德埃畫麵對我有很大的影響 ，那一幕對我來說最熟悉不過了 。森的生涯那感覺是如此的真實 ，這也是我為什麽心情如此激動 。我必須克服一個巨大的心理障礙 ，才能在第二天代表荷蘭參加小組賽的第一場比賽 。”
“但我想說的 ，發生這樣的事情之後，我為自己能在比賽中踢這麽長時間而感到驕傲 。雖然很困難 ，但我做到了。要知道當這一切發生在我身上時 ，整個世界都在告訴我 ，我再也不能踢比賽了 。所以看看我今天的狀態 ，這就是為什麽我要對所有人說 ，不要放棄埃裏克森 ！”
“從我的經曆中來看 ，我覺得我已經準備好了 ，當我得到醫院的醫生和阿賈克斯的醫護人員的同意後 ，我覺得我可以回來了 ，我可以再次回到頂級水平 。最重要的一點 ，你必須在思想上沒有任何壓力和包袱 。我也沒有恐懼 ，一旦醫生告訴我可以再次比賽 ，我感受到的隻有那種比賽的緊張和興奮 。除顫器在我體內成為了我的一部分 ，當我躺在床上時，我會感覺到它 ，但在白天 ，它不會給我帶來任何麻煩 ，我甚至不會想它 ，它隻是給了我一種安全的感覺。”
