If you took a sick day to play Elden Ringtoday, good for you. I applaud your transparent gumption. But a whole company is getting the day off anyway, in a truly smooth PR move from management.
Japanese video game developer Pocket Pair has given its employees the day off specificallyto play the incredibly hyped up latest FromSoftware release.
"Pocket Pair will provide Elden Holiday to all employees!" reads a tweet, translated from Japanese by Google, and first spotted by Kotaku. "The King of Elde does not have to go to work on Friday and Monday!"
The official statement attached to the tweet in the image, when translated using Google, cites the release date of Feb. 25 for Elden Ringand reads, "it is expected that you will not be able to concentrate on your work."

Elden Ring, released Friday, is the long-awaited open world fantasy game that sees Game of Thronescreator George R. R. Martin joining the developers behind the Dark Soulsfranchise. You play one of the 'Tarnished' in the realm of The Lands Between, ruled by a formidable monarch known as Queen Marika the Eternal. But the Elden Ring, the source of the all-powerful Erdtree, has been shattered, and it's up to you to return from exile, restore the power of the Elden Ring, and become an Elden Lord.

It's taken experienced reviewers up to 87 hours to beat the game, so a day off ahead of the weekend is most welcome for these extremely serious Elden Ringfans who'll apparently refuse to focus if made to show up to work. Pocket Pair's own president even posted a photo of his enthusiastic self celebrating the coming release.
I'm just saying, with Majora's Masklanding on Nintendo Switch on the same daysurely we all deserve the day off, too? Huh?
Elden Ring is out now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One.
