截至目前 ，越南员赛全球疫情形勢依然嚴峻，国脚亞洲地區多支國家隊持續受到不同程度的对缺代练影響 。在12強賽B組中 ，乏比中國 、赛问赛照越南和阿曼三隊均在各自國內聯賽暫停的题沙特联情況下采取長期集訓的方式進行備戰 。
越南於16日河內集中
前兩輪比賽中，常球越南隊以1比3不敵沙特 、越南员赛0比1小負澳大利亞 。国脚9月9日 ，对缺代练越南隊在河內就地解散 ，乏比迎來為期7天的赛问赛照假期進行休整 。按照計劃 ，题沙特联全員將於9月16日回到位於河內的常球國家青訓中心基地重新集結 ，隨後在主教練樸恒緒的越南员赛帶領下投入到對陣中國隊的備戰中 。
越南隊與澳大利亞的比賽之所以能夠在主場順利開打正是因為越南足協向國家防疫部門申請了"氣泡式隔離"的訓練 、比賽模式以保障安全 。比賽結束後，教練組考慮到長期封閉集訓不利於球員的身心健康 ，隨即向越南足協和相關防疫部門申請假期 ，因此教練 、球員和工作人員獲準暫時離開封閉區返回各自家中休息 ，不過期間不得離開越南國內 。雖然球員長期集訓積累的疲勞能夠通過這一假期得到緩解 ，不過越南隊此次重新集結後還需應對國腳缺乏比賽狀態的問題 。
2021賽季 ，越南超級聯賽於2月開幕 ，5月初為國家隊備戰40強賽讓路而全麵暫停 。之後因越南國內疫情出現大規模反彈 ，聯賽被迫推遲至明年2月重啟 。因此越南國腳自從6月份的40強賽完賽後一直處於無球可踢的狀態 。8月初，球隊為備戰12強賽前2輪比賽再度集結 ，由於缺乏正常比賽節奏 ，同時受限於疫情無法約戰國際熱身賽 ，因此越南隊12強賽前僅和同在河內集訓的U22國家隊進行了兩場熱身賽 。
按照計劃 ，越南隊集結後將繼續在河內國家青訓中心基地進行長期封閉集訓 ，預計於10月初奔赴下一個比賽地阿聯酋沙迦 。出發前 ，球隊很可能與U22國家隊再度約戰 。
沙特國內聯賽照常
沙特在前兩輪中發揮穩定 ，先以3比1逆轉戰勝10人越南 ，後以1比0力克首輪爆冷擊敗日本的阿曼 ，是中國隊同組對手中除了澳大利亞外另一支取得兩連勝的球隊。不同於中國隊和越南隊 ，沙特隊的國內聯賽正常開打，參照前兩輪的參賽名單，基本可以確定此番出戰10月兩場比賽的國腳仍將以來自於國內聯賽球員為主 ，球員能夠通過聯賽的正常節奏"以賽代練"保持狀態 。在此基礎上，鑒於兩場比賽都是在沙特國內吉達進行 ，球隊還擁有"以逸待勞"的主場優勢 。
目前 ，大部分國腳回歸俱樂部並正常參加聯賽 。現效力於利雅得新月的阿卜杜拉·奧塔伊夫因膝蓋內軟骨以及內副韌帶的傷勢缺席聯賽 。這名沙特國家隊主力中場球員即將前往西班牙巴塞羅那進行治療 ，預計恢複期為4-6周 ，很難趕上出戰中國隊。
