盡管球隊整體實力有差距 ，新华需决心和中超聯賽的社国思想節奏和強度也不如12強賽 ，但完敗於澳大利亞隊後 ，足战展现自信中國男足應能對亞洲一流球隊有所適應，日本在接下來對日本隊的勇气比賽中，要找回首戰在接應拿球和擺脫過人時所欠缺的放下果斷 、決心和勇氣，包袱從而破掉對手可能帶來的新华需决心和又一波針對性逼搶和壓迫 。
首場比賽來看，社国思想一個明顯教訓是足战展现自信 ，在場麵被動時 ，日本隊員們可以回傳調整 ，勇气但不能過多地一直回傳 。放下從比賽過程看 ，包袱這會導致球隊的新华需决心和陣型被越壓越扁 ，中場對後場的接應空間越來越小 ，後衛和門將在不停接到回傳球後發現出球越來越難 ，結果就是喪失球權 ，攻防脫節 ，全隊完全處於對手的壓迫下和掌控中 。
澳男足主帥阿諾德賽後說 ，他們賽前製定的計劃就是要迫使中國隊暴露防守上的弱點，讓中國隊踢得“非常困難” 。而日本隊在分析了錄像 、對國足的特點進行研究後 ，可能也會采取類似的前場緊逼和壓迫戰術 ，迫使國足隊員們不停回傳 ，直至丟球和失誤 ，從而牢牢控製球權 。
從亞足聯提供的首場比賽技術統計看 ，國足38.8%的控球率體現了在場上的被動 。而在傳球次數上 ，“袋鼠軍團”以651次遙遙領先國足的412次 ，這使得他們通過不斷地傳球 、倒腳 ，特別是對中場的控製 ，越踢越自信 、越有感覺，從而找到空當 ，送出致命一傳，首個進球便是由此而來 。
但是 ，完敗並不代表國足將士們不努力 。據亞足聯統計 ，在兩拚球和爭頂的成功率上，中國隊都占優 ，這反映出小夥子們積極的比賽態度 ，但無奈更多時間和體能消耗在了防守上 ，而不是決定比賽走勢的由守轉攻的效率以及對球權的有效控製上。
從與澳男足比賽的頭20分鍾看 ，在兩隊試探階段 ，中國隊能夠用自己的前場緊逼 、大範圍轉移 ，以及堅決地去接應、前插 、突破 ，創造出一些機會 。但隨著對手將比賽強度和節奏提升，逼搶越來越靠前 ，國足中後場的銜接被壓製 ，中場球員一段時間隻能背身回傳 ，連拿球後轉身向前都變得困難 ，喪失了由守轉攻的機會 。
從國足主帥李鐵賽後的分析 ，能夠看出他對國足在下一場比賽破掉對手逼搶的期待 。他說 ，大家最重要的是要有去挑戰12強賽對手的決心和勇氣 ，“如果我們變得更緊張，變得縮手縮腳 ，那肯定是很難的，這對球隊來講是非常重要的一點” 。
下一戰 ，對已在中超聯賽與世界級外援同場競技多年的國足球員來說，雖然職業生涯也許不如日本隊的一些旅歐球員們出彩 ，但還是要展現出應有的自信 ，放下怕失誤的思想包袱 ，在麵對逆境時 ，要果斷跑位 、要球 、接應、轉身 、擺脫 、突破 ，讓持球的隊友能夠易出球 、敢傳球 ，這是決定12強賽能否拚出最好結果的一個關鍵 。
