不過就在本周中曼城5-1大勝布魯日的因伤已掉意离歐冠小組賽中 ，斯特林還在第64分鍾替補出場並且助攻一次 。缺席雖然之後斯特林在比賽中多次錯失得分良機 ，但他在比賽中踢得很積極 ，看起來身體狀況也不錯 。

本場英超聯賽福登打進2球助攻1次 ，格拉利什 、熱蘇斯 、B席均有1次助攻 ，而最後時刻替補出場的馬赫雷斯還在補時階段打進1球 。可以說如今曼城在邊鋒位置上人員充足 ，球隊更需要的是一名中鋒 ，斯特林如果想要離隊曼城願意考慮以合適的價格出售球員。
西甲豪門巴薩對斯特林感興趣，但囊中羞澀的巴薩隻想在冬季轉會期租借球員 ，而曼城為斯特林的定價高達8000萬歐元 。此外，剛易主不久的紐卡斯爾也有意斯特林，有著沙特王儲做後盾的紐卡斯爾並不缺錢 ，不過球隊還需要時間才能提升整體競爭力，如果斯特林轉會紐卡斯爾 ，可能會有一段時間無緣歐戰。
