2012年10月，博努博努奇與妻兒一起逛街時突然遭到匪徒持槍搶劫。奇意枪抢那天 ，外遭文铁卫赤博努奇一家人驅車前往位於都靈市中心的遇持一個正進行法拉力車展的4S店，在店內近距離挑選愛車後，劫尤博努奇準備去店外花園考察幾輛停放在草坪上的手制幾輛跑車 ，而他的服悍匪妻子則帶著孩子回到車上 。但在去往花園的博努路上 ，一個歹徒突然出現，奇意枪抢用槍指著博努奇的外遭文铁卫赤臉讓他把手表交出來 。
當時 ，遇持博努奇的劫尤反應異常平靜 ，裝作取下手表，手制當劫匪伸手要拿走手表時，服悍匪博努奇一記重拳將對方打倒在地，博努隨後又撲上去補了一拳 。劫匪明顯是沒有預見到這樣的場麵，愣了一下就開始往同夥的方向跑去 。
據《米蘭體育報》報道 ，當時歹徒一邊跑還一邊叫：“你在幹什麽 ？你瘋了嗎？我要開槍打你了！”而博努奇就像沒聽到這些話一樣 ，撒開腳丫子猛追 。直到聽見妻子的哭聲後才停止腳步 ，跑過來安慰妻子 。
博努奇勇鬥歹徒的事件遭到曝光後受到人們的稱讚 ，尤文的球迷和都靈的市民對博努奇給他封上了“勇士”和“城市守衛者”的稱號 。但是博努奇不希望媒體炒作此事 ，他表示自己並不想刻意相當英雄 ，當時的行為完全是下意識的 。
