而尤文女隊官方隨後公開道歉稱 ：“我們為此真誠地道歉，嫌歧我們的推文無意引起爭議 ，也不帶有任何種族歧視色彩 ，但可能冒犯了一些人 。事實上 ，尤文俱樂部始終反對任何種族主義和歧視 。”不過這個道歉並沒有讓一些網友滿意 ，他們認為 ，塞西莉亞-薩爾維的拉眼角動作早就被視為對亞洲人的歧視 ，尤文公告稱推文“不帶有任何種族歧視色彩”的說法不成立 。
過去在世界足壇也發生過不少球員拉眼角涉嫌亞洲人的情況，包括羅納爾多 、卡卡、內馬爾 、拉維奇 、帕托都曾這麽做 。而韓國球星孫興慜在2019年熱刺對埃弗頓的英超聯賽中 ，曾被一位埃弗頓球迷用拉眼角的動作進行種族歧視 。
